Valve Bore

A valve bore is the machined passage inside a valve body in which a spool valve moves. This page explains what a bore does, how wear changes it, and why sleeve repair is the documented response to a worn bore.

What a valve bore does

Each spool valve inside a valve body moves within its own bore, opening and closing oil passages as it travels. The fit between spool valve and bore is what makes the valve body precise: too loose a fit leaks pressure past the valve, and too tight a fit sticks. The bore is therefore not a passive hole but a working surface, and its condition decides whether the valve it houses can do its job.

How a bore wears

Bores wear through use, contamination and pressure cycling. A worn bore leaks oil past the spool valve, which shows up as pressure loss, poor shift quality or inconsistent lock-up, depending on which valve the bore houses. Because the symptom belongs to the valve function rather than to the bore itself, bore wear is often found only when the valve body is screened and tested rather than when a single part is replaced.

Sleeve repair, not polish-only

Where a bore is worn, the documented repair is a sleeve repair: a sleeve is fitted to the worn bore rather than relying on polishing alone.

Polishing can clean a surface, but it does not restore a worn bore. The valve bore sleeve repair page covers the service itself, including what to ask before a repair is agreed. This page states the principle so that a buyer can recognise it in any repair discussion.

Bore, spool valve and gasket together

A bore never works alone. It houses a spool valve, it is sealed by the valve body gasket and cover, and it is fed by the solenoid set. A bore inquiry should therefore mention the spool valve and the sealing condition alongside the bore, and a buyer who needs the complete picture should also read the spool valve page and the valve body sealing page.

What to confirm before ordering

Share the valve body item, the bore condition as far as you know it, the quantity and your target date. Ask for MOQ and lead time for your order. Ask whether sleeve repair is the proposed response where a bore is worn, and whether bench testing covers oil flow, pressure stability, shift response and sealing for the unit. Warranty is at least 1 year.
