What a shift solenoid does
A shift solenoid switches oil to the shift valves at the moment a gear change is commanded. If it responds late, sticks or leaks, the gear change it controls will feel wrong even when the rest of the valve body is sound. That is why a shift complaint is investigated at the solenoid and at the valve bore together, rather than by replacing parts in turn until the symptom disappears.
Shift solenoid and shift quality
Shift quality depends on timing as much as on pressure. A shift solenoid that opens at the wrong moment produces a harsh or delayed change, while one that cannot hold its position produces a slipping or hunting change. Bench testing therefore checks shift response directly, alongside oil flow, pressure stability and sealing, so that timing faults are found before the solenoid is fitted.
Single solenoid or solenoid valve kit
A single shift solenoid inquiry suits a single identified shift fault. A solenoid valve kit suits a job where several solenoids are replaced together, or where a workshop stocks the set for repeat shift work. Compare the two routes on the solenoid valve kit page before deciding, and name the shift function in either case so that the inquiry is not mistaken for a pressure control or lock-up inquiry.
What to confirm before ordering
This site does not publish a shift solenoid fitment list. Confirm fitment details before ordering, and describe the shift function and the valve body job in your own terms.
Share the quantity and your target date. Ask for MOQ and lead time for your order. Ask whether bench testing covers shift response for the solenoid you are ordering, and confirm packaging and warranty before ordering. Warranty is at least 1 year.
