Three parts of one seal
A valve body holds pressure only if its gasket seals the joints, its cover gasket seals the cover section, and its sealing surfaces mate cleanly with both. A failure in any one of the three leaks pressure, and the leak then appears as a shift or lock-up fault even when solenoids and bores are sound. Sealing inquiries should therefore name all three parts, not only the gasket.
Sealing surfaces in repair
In the documented repair sequence, sealing surfaces are refinished where needed: old sealant, rust and debris are removed, and sealing contact surfaces are prepared before reassembly, to reduce leak risk. That preparation is part of repair scope, and a repair inquiry should state whether sealing surface preparation is included. A valve body reassembled with a new gasket on an unprepared surface has not had its sealing addressed.
Sealing as a bench-test item
Sealing is one of the four bench-test checks, together with oil flow, pressure stability and shift response. A sealing check on the bench tests the assembly as fitted, which is the only form in which sealing actually matters. Ask whether sealing was bench-checked for the assembly in your order, and whether gaskets and cover gaskets were included in the scope of that check.
Sealing faults and their symptoms
A sealing fault rarely announces itself as a sealing fault. It appears as pressure loss, inconsistent shifts, or lock-up that cannot hold, because pressure built by the solenoids escapes before it can do its work. When those symptoms appear together with a recently opened valve body, sealing should be investigated alongside solenoids and bores rather than after them.
What to confirm before ordering
This site does not publish a valve body sealing fitment list. Confirm fitment details before ordering, and name the gasket, cover gasket or sealing item you need.
Share the quantity and your target date. Ask for MOQ and lead time for your order. Ask whether sealing was bench-checked for the assembly, and confirm packaging and warranty before ordering. Warranty is at least 1 year.
