What a pressure control solenoid does
Line pressure is the force behind every shift and every clutch application in the valve body. The pressure control solenoid meters that pressure, raising or lowering it as driving conditions change. If it cannot hold stable pressure, shifts become harsh or soft and clutch application becomes uneven, even when the shift solenoids themselves switch correctly. Pressure faults are therefore investigated at the pressure control solenoid first, before the rest of the valve body is blamed.
Why pressure stability is a bench-test item
Bench testing for solenoids and valve body assemblies names pressure stability as one of its four checks, together with oil flow, shift response and sealing. That is not an accident: pressure stability is the direct measure of whether a pressure control solenoid does its job under test conditions. A pressure control solenoid inquiry should always ask whether pressure stability was checked, and whether the check covered the solenoid alone or the solenoid in the assembly.
Pressure control and the other solenoid functions
Pressure control, shift and lock-up are separate functions that share one valve body. A pressure problem should not be answered with a shift solenoid, and a shift problem should not be answered with a pressure control solenoid. The valve body solenoid page sets the three functions side by side; use it to check that the function you are ordering matches the fault you are investigating.
What to confirm before ordering
This site does not publish a pressure control solenoid fitment list. Confirm fitment details before ordering, and name the pressure control function in your inquiry.
Share the quantity and your target date. Ask for MOQ and lead time for your order. Ask about pressure stability testing for the solenoid in your order, and confirm packaging and warranty before ordering. Warranty is at least 1 year.
