The step in plain terms
A valve bore is the working surface in which a spool valve moves. When that surface wears, oil leaks past the valve and pressure control suffers. Sleeve repair restores the working surface by fitting a sleeve to the worn bore. Polishing, by contrast, cleans a surface without restoring a worn bore, and the company process documentation states the distinction explicitly: worn valve bores are repaired with a sleeve, not by polishing alone.
Where sleeve repair sits in the sequence
Sleeve repair is one step inside the documented repair sequence. Defect screening comes first and removes worn, deformed, fatigued or out-of-tolerance core parts. Ultrasonic cleaning and wear-part replacement follow. Sleeve repair is then made where a bore is worn. Bench testing follows and verifies the result across oil flow, pressure stability, shift response and sealing. A sleeve repair without the surrounding steps is not the documented sequence, and a buyer should ask whether the full sequence applies to their unit.
What to ask before a repair is agreed
- Which bores are worn, as far as inspection has shown, and which of them are proposed for sleeve repair.
- Whether the repair scope includes gaskets and the solenoid set, or only the bore work.
- Whether bench testing after repair covers oil flow, pressure stability, shift response and sealing.
- What packaging and warranty apply to the repaired unit. Warranty is at least 1 year.
Sleeve repair and replacement compared
Sleeve repair recovers the existing valve body. Replacement starts from a different unit. Repair suits a valve body whose damage is limited and recoverable; replacement suits wider damage or a job where time matters more. The valve body repair page and the valve body replacement page compare the two routes on the same terms.
What to confirm before ordering
Describe the valve body fault and any inspection findings you hold. Do not assume a bore is repairable by sleeve until its condition is known.
