What is cleaned, and what is not
Cleaning covers reusable metal parts, housings and hydraulic parts: the valve body and its metal components that have passed defect screening. It does not cover parts that failed screening, which are removed rather than cleaned back into service, and it does not cover high-frequency wear parts, which are replaced rather than cleaned. Cleaning is therefore a step for parts already judged reusable, not a rescue for parts already judged failed.
Multi-stage ultrasonic cleaning
The documented step uses dedicated cleaning agents with multi-cycle ultrasonic cleaning to remove carbon deposits, sludge and metal debris. After cleaning comes a second cleanliness check, so that cleanliness is verified rather than assumed. A buyer should ask whether that second check applied to their unit, because a cleaning claim without a recheck is only half a step.
Where cleaning sits in the sequence
Cleaning sits after defect screening and before wear-part replacement, sleeve repair and bench testing. That order matters: cleaning a part that should have been removed wastes the step, and testing a unit that was never cleaned properly can pass a bench check while still carrying debris that will cause a later fault. A repair inquiry should therefore ask about the sequence, not only about cleaning in isolation.
Cleaning and a new valve body compared
A new valve body item has no cleaning history to discuss. A repaired valve body does, and cleaning is part of what makes the repair credible. If you are comparing a repaired unit with a replacement unit, ask about cleaning and rechecking for the repaired unit, and about bench testing for both, so that the comparison rests on the same checks.
What to confirm before ordering a repair
Ask whether multi-stage ultrasonic cleaning and a second cleanliness check applied to the unit, and whether bench testing after repair covered oil flow, pressure stability, shift response and sealing.
